James “Jim” Allaman Worrel, age 83 of Alvin, Texas, passed away on Tuesday June 9, 2020 in Webster, Texas. Jim was born on August 18, 1936 in Rushville, Missouri and was a resident of Alvin, Texas for over 40 years. He served in the United States Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division from 1959-1961.  Jim then worked as a millwright for Brown & Root for 32 years, retiring in 1999 and starting a tree trimming/stump-grinding business he operated for numerous years, serving the Alvin and surrounding communities. He finished his working career with Script-Pro Pharmaceutical Automation in 2013. Over the last 7 years, Jim served as head trustee at the Breath of Life Community Church of the Nazarene, doing repairs, remodeling projects, maintenance, and serving in any capacity that was needed.

Jim is preceded in death by his Parents, Lowell Sanford Worrel and Rose May Pate; sisters, Margaret Ellen Worrel, Doris Mawdsley, Betty Armontrout; brother, Robert Worrell.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 59 years, Peggy Russ Worrel; daughter, Rose Pentecost and husband Loyd; sons, James Worrell and wife Lauren, Thomas Worrell and wife Alexis, and John “Chris” Worrel; sisters, Rosie Maycroft and Nancy Brown; grandchildren, Ryan Worrell and Johanna Vinson, Chelsea Worrell, Kelsey Pagonis and husband Jeffrey, Shelby Worrel, Zachary Worrel and wife Cassandra, McKenzie Worrell, Skylar Worrell, Kendall Worrell, Alec Pentecost, and Madison Pentecost; great grand-daughters Makayla Pagonis and soon-to-be Baby Worrel.

Ryan Worrell, Alec Pentecost, Loyd Pentecost, Ron Shuman, Carl Davis, Zachary Worrel, David Hoover, and Mike Straughan are serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include Jay Williams, Arlie Kyzer, Barry Medders, Jackie Steed, Archie Rae Corbett, Kenneth Thornton, David Squires, and John Russ.

A visitation was held on Friday, June 12, 2020, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at Scott Funeral Home, 1421 E. Highway 6, Alvin, Texas 77511. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at Alvin Missionary Baptist Church, 2102 W. Lang St. Alvin, Texas 77511. Interment will follow immediately after services at Confederate Cemetery, Alvin, Texas.
