Alvin firefighters and EMS work to rescue two people injured in an accident on Adoue Street.

A major accident on Adoue Street on Monday afternoon required two motorists to be transported to local hospitals.

The accident occurred at approximately 3:34 p.m. when 24-year-old Nathan Reach of Alvin, driving a black 2009 Nissan Titan, and 62-year-old Stephanie Rosenhoffer of Alvin, driving a silver 2010 Chevrolet HHR, were involved in a collision that sent both vehicles rolling onto their sides. Rosenhoffer was trapped inside of her vehicle, and Alvin Volunteer Fire Department firefighters had to remove the top of her vehicle to rescue her before she was transported to a hospital by helicopter.

The accident was cleared shortly after 6 p.m.

Residents of the neighborhood said such a major accident on a relatively quiet neighborhood road was unexpected, but that excessive speeding had been a problem on the road for years.

Capt. Todd Arendell of the Alvin Police Department said “the cause of the accident remains under investigation, but speed will be a likely factor.”
