A 2-year-old Manvel boy died on the morning of July 13 after drowning in a tragic accident at his home on County Road 58 two days earlier.
The boy was last seen by his mother when she asked him to retrieve a cup from the kitchen while she was feeding her younger, 6-month-old son.
“Mom was tending to her 6-month-old, asked the 2-year-old to grab something — his cup, from the kitchen; she was in the middle of feeding him, as well, and he just never came back. No one saw him; he apparently exited through the back door,” Manvel Police Department Detective Evelyn Abundis said.
The boy was found floating in a pond in the back of the property.
Police responded to the address at approximately 7:39 p.m., with EMS arriving approximately five minutes later.
The boy was transported by LifeFlight to Memorial Hermann in Downtown Houston and later transferred to Texas Children’s Hospital before being pronounced dead at approximately 3:52 a.m., July 13.
