This afternoon, the decision has been made that Alvin ISD campuses will remain physically closed through Friday, April 10th; however, the district will continue to mobilize efforts to provide students with remote and digital learning experiences.

This difficult decision was made as part of the broader state and national effort to flatten the exposure curve associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Our region has continued to see an increasing number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 and health officials report that this number is expected to increase, as more testing is made available.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has outlined the need for all communities to implement a social distancing protocol. Additionally, the Federal Government has provided a recommendation that the community should limit group gatherings. In light of these factors, and additional guidance from local, state and national authorities, we feel that this is the most appropriate decision for our students, staff, families and our community as a whole.

Over the coming days, Alvin ISD teachers will be solidifying plans as they prepare for long-term delivery of digital and remote instruction. Your child’s campus will be reaching out to share details about how to access these lessons and learning opportunities for students. We ask for your patience and understanding as our team continues to navigate the many details of this unprecedented situation.

Please continue to monitor your email as well as the district website and social media for more information on campus closures, remote delivery of instruction, and details about our food service programs available for students.

The health and wellbeing of Alvin ISD students, staff and our community remains the unrelenting priority of Alvin ISD.  Thank you for your continued partnership with Alvin ISD.
