An accident involving a Kid City daycare bus that occurred at approximately 3:37 p.m., Sept. 10, left the bus upside down in the ditch along the southbound lanes of South State Highway 35 at the intersection with Victory Lane.
All occupants, including eight children ranging in ages of 5 to 10 years, were not seriously injured after the driver of the bus ran a red light.
The failure of the small bus to yield the right-of-way at the traffic light led to a four-door gray Nissan sedan clipping it in the back, causing the bus to leave the roadway and flip over.
Kid City owner, Kim Symons, said the parents of all children were promptly notified by the Alvin Police Department and most were transported by another bus to the Kid City Friendswood location where the bus was headed.
The female employee who was driving the bus will be terminated, Symons said.
Symons said Kid City regularly employs the use of 11 buses and maintains a standby fleet of three extra buses for use when buses need repair or maintenance. The loss of the bus will not lead to any difficulty in maintaining the current level of transportation service.
