Three men between the ages of 19 and 20 led police on a miles-long chase from Lake Jackson to Manvel on June 1 after burglarizing a T-Mobile store in Lake Jackson by smashing the back of a truck through the front windows.

After an officer with the Lake Jackson Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle, which had been described by a witness, the suspects fled, entering Highway 288 northbound and reaching speeds of up to 100 mph.

The chase ended in the vicinity of Highway 288 and County Road 47 in Manvel when troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety deployed tire deflation devices.

Two suspects fled on foot into a nearby wooded area while one was detained in the vehicle. A perimeter was set up with law enforcement agents from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Angleton Police Department, Brazoria County Sheriff’s Department and Pearland Police Department assisting. Helicopters from Texas DPS and the Houston Police Department also assisted in the search.

The remaining subjects were located and arrested. Nineteen-year-old Brandon Taylor of San Marcos, 20-year-old Alton Lacy of Houston and 19-year-old Jeremiah Johnson of Houston were all charged with the state jail felonies of Forcible Burglary of a Building and Evading Arrest or Detention in a Vehicle. Taylor and Lacy, who fled the vehicle, were additionally charged with the Class A misdemeanor of Evading Arrest or Detention on Foot.
