Thirty-four-year-old Jesika Taylor-Sullivan was found dead in her apartment by police at approximately 9:33 a.m. Wednesday.
Officers arrived at the home for a welfare check following an alleged assault committed against Taylor-Sullivan by her husband of six months, 34-year-old Brandon Tyrone Garrett, on Monday. The responding officers entered the home after Taylor- Sullivan’s children answered the door and explained that their mother was asleep in bed but were subsequently unable to wake her up. Taylor- Sullivan was found submerged in water in the bathtub and was already cold to the touch, according to the police report. Taylor-Sullivan’s death was ruled a homicide following an autopsy.
A warrant had already been issued for Garrett due to the alleged assault he had committed against his wife on Monday in which he is accused of choking her. He was arrested late Wednesday after what Alvin Police Department Capt. Todd Arendell described in a press release as a “lengthy search by police.”
While in custody on a $15,000 bond for charges of assault, Garrett was additionally charged with murder and given an additional bond of $150,000.
He remains behind bars in the Brazoria County Jail.
