Jacqueline Marie Mitchell, 53, went to be with our Lord, surrounded by her family, Friday, May 20, 2016 in Webster. She was born September 17, 1962 in La Marque to parents, Frank Adame Sr. and Beatrice (Luna) Adame. Jackie, as she was known to all, was always happy about life no matter what was brought her way. She was happily married to the love of her life, Perry “Joe” Mitchell Sr., and had a beautiful family that she loved and adored. Many of her days were spent outdoors or going to a garage sale, as she loved the summer time. Her most precious memories were spending time with her family and friends and she always treasured them, as they will cherish the times they had with her, as well.

Rodrigo Lozano, age 65, of Alvin, Texas went home to our Lord on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at his residence. Rodrigo was born January 5, 1951 in Los Aldamas, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and was a resident of Alvin for over 37 years. Rodrigo owned and operated Lozano Tire Repair in Alvin since 1982 and was a member of the Emmanuel Worship Center in Alvin. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed. Rodrigo was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Genoveva Lozano; sister, Lydia Alaniz; and brother, Daniel Lozano.

Senovio Franco, III, age 62, of Pearland, Texas passed away Monday, May 23, 2016 at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital Houston, Texas. Senovio was born February 24, 1954 in Alice, Texas and was a longtime resident of Alvin, Texas. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1972-1976. Senovio was preceded in death by his parents, Senovio and Clemencia Franco, II.

Beverly was born November 18, 1953 in Athens, Texas to James and Darlene Turlington and was a resident of Alvin for the last 20 years. She worked hard at taking care of her family and will be dearly missed by of those who knew her. Beverly was preceded in death by her father, James Turlington.

Alfred “Bubba” Culbreth Jr., age 78, of Alvin, Texas passed away peacefully at his residence, surrounded by loved ones on Monday, May 16, 2016. Bubba was born September 23, 1937 in Galveston, Texas and was a resident of Alvin for over 30 years. Throughout his life, he served as a Police Officer for the Galveston PD, a machinist with Union Carbide, Founder and Fire Chief of Bayou Vista VFD and a Sheriff’s Deputy Reserve. Bubba also proudly served in the National Guard, and was a member of the Light Christian Center in Alvin. Bubba was preceded in death by his father, William Nicholson; parents, Alfred and Lillian Culbreth; daughter, Debbie Culbreth; sisters, Margaret McCune and Nettie Nicholson; and brothers, Bosco Culbreth, William Nicholson Jr., and William H. Nicholson.

Myrl was born September 1, 1928 in Loraine, Texas and was a resident of Alvin for over 20 years. He worked as a district foreman for Amoco and was a member of Westside Church of Christ in Alvin. Myrl was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed by his friends and family. David Egan Brennan, age 80, of Alvin, Texas passed away Monday, May 9, 2016 at Clear Lake Regional Hospital Webster, Texas. David was born September 8, 1935 in Bangor, Maine and was a resident of Alvin since 1995. He graduated from Rogers High School in Newport, Rhode Island in 1954 and would serve two different terms in the United States Air Force. David traveled the world as a contractor building and starting up numerous chemical and gas plants. He loved spending his spare time racing his pigeons with his friends. David was a wonderful man and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Neal and Mae Brennan; and brothers: Neal Brennan Jr. and William Brennan.

Mary Frances Finley, age 91, of Alvin, Texas passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Conway Regional Health System in Conway, Arkansas. Frances was born September 30, 1924 in Farmersville, Texas and was a resident of Alvin since 2006, formerly of Centerville, Texas. She worked as a homemaker, devoting her life in service to her family, her brethren, and her Lord. Frances was a member of Adoue Street Church of Christ. She spent many years by her husband’s side as he preached the gospel in Churches of Christ located in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas and New Mexico. She was a wonderful woman and will be dearly missed by her friends and family. Her talents included sewing and multiple forms of handwork. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Finley; her parents, Leonard and Murl Jackson; and brothers, Rayford Jackson and Gerald Jackson.

Danny Ben Barker, age 69, of Manvel, Texas, passed away on May 1 of 2016. He was born on August 23, 1946 in Talladega, Ala. to Pete and Sally Mae Barker. He was a resident of Manvel for five years. Prior to living in Manvel, he resided in Pasadena, Texas. Mr. Barker enjoyed keeping up with the activities of his family and expressing his political views through posts on Facebook. He enjoyed attending the games of his four grandchildren who he loved dearly. When he wasn’t busy with his grandchildren, he loved to tinker with cars, go fishing, and watch old western movies of John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. He was a mechanic for most of his life who loved family time and sharing stories. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Jimmie Mae Smith passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 98 years old. Jimmie was born on January 18, 1918 in Holland, Texas, to parents, Elijah and Annie Jochetz. Living in Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas as one of 12 children, she grew up in a ranching and farming family. She graduated from Corpus Christi High School and Delmar University in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was married to Elmo Smith until his death in 1971, and they had five children:  Elmo Clyde Smith, Burt Carey Smith, Edith Ann Smith, Russell George Smith, and Elijah Ed Smith.

Thomas Andrew “Tom” Fulton, 55, of Alvin passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016. Tom, as he was known to all, was born August 18, 1960 in Dallas. He was devoted to his career at INEOS and for years enjoyed the friendships he made through his work. He was a hard worker, loving math and problem solving, and was considered one of the best at what he did. In the mornings, he would start his day off with some Campbell’s soup or spicy V-8. After a hard day of work, he would come home with a six pack of beer to relax and enjoy watching sports on tv. Tom loved to cook.  Rain or shine you could find him in his yard with the BBQ pit, smoking a brisket or a rack of ribs for his family and friends to enjoy. His dogs were very special to him.  Playing 18 holes of golf was something he enjoyed, although he did not get to play as often as he liked. Cars and guns were his passion, especially taking them apart and putting them back together.

Estella M. Ramos Delgado, 67, of Baytown went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at her residence. Estella was born on December 15, 1948 in Angleton to parents, Arturo  and Natividad Ramos. Stella, as she was known to all, was a devoted Christian. She had a very spunky, spit-fire personality that would sometimes seem tough, but she always did everything with love. Her many hobbies included bingo, dancing, and her love for the Houston Texans, but caring for her family was of most importance to her. She was crazy about all of her grandchildren and was affectionately known to them as “Body Language.” She will be remembered as a strong devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all. Family was a blessing to her and the time spent with them was always treasured.

George Marshall Crawford, age 85 of Alvin, Texas entered into eternal rest, Friday, April 22, 2016 at his residence. George was born January 24, 1931 in Ripley, Mississippi and was a resident of Alvin, Texas for over 50 years. George graduated from Chalybeate High School out of Mississippi in 1949. He later joined the Air Force and served as a Staff Sergeant in the Korean War. George worked as an I&E Technician and later retired from the Chemical Industry at Chocolate Bayou. He attended Alvin Bible Church where he previously served as an elder and enjoyed fishing and many years of Tuesday golf with friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Palmer Crawford, Sr. and Lois Era LaBarreare Crawford; sisters, Hazel Cox, Mary Hulsey and Ruth Crawford; and brother, Pat Crawford.

Dolores Ann Klesel, 83, went to be with our Lord Sunday, April 24, 2016 in Houston. Dolores was born January 11, 1933 in Schulenburg, Texas to parents, Rudy Meyer and Agnes Blashke. She married the love of her life, Edmund Klesel Jr., December 27, 1952 in her home town. Dolores was a devoted catholic member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manvel for many years. Her hobbies included being a member of the Women’s Bowling League, Quilting Club, and the Altar Society. She loved her family dearly. Her favorite times were hosting family gatherings and cooking for everyone. Her grandchildren were very dear in her heart, as she was in theirs.

Jacquelyn Ann “Jackie” Hueske, age 69, of Alvin, Texas went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Kindred Hospital, Webster, Texas. Jackie was born November 12, 1946 in Brenham, Texas to Nolan and Jeanette Hueske and was a resident of Alvin for 65 years. They moved to Alvin when she was a child and she attended Alvin schools and graduated from Alvin High School. She was employed with Pearland State Bank before she became ill. She was ill for many years and lived at Laurel Court for the past three years. Jackie was a “people person” who never met a stranger. She loved horses and was very knowledgeable about them. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents.

She married Israel Escobar in October 1960 and remained happily married until his passing on March 30, 1981. Her many hobbies included watching the Novelas, talking on the phone to her friends, and visiting her family in South Texas. Her family was very important and precious to her and she loved the times she spent with them.

Mary Ellen (Simpson) Weston, 86, passed from this life to her eternal home with Jesus on April 15, 2016. She leaves behind a host of family and friends who will always hold her in high regard as a woman who lived her faith and loved as Jesus did. God’s calling on her life is a beautiful story of honesty, integrity and unwavering love for others before herself. She was a devoted Mother, Daughter, Aunt, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, but her greatest calling was as a devoted Pastor’s Wife to her husband of 67 years, Floyd Weston, who preceded her in death on January 23, 2016. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Frank and Hattie Simpson; and brother, Roy Pittman.

Beatrice Marie Myers, age 92, of Alvin, Texas passed away peacefully on Saturday April 16, 2016. Beatrice was born June 4, 1923 in Fort Lupton, Colorado and was a resident of Alvin since 1946. She attended Skyview Baptist Church and worked at Walmart for 20 years as their greeter. Beatrice was a wonderful woman and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cotton Myers; parents, Henrique and Santa Ann George; daughter, Jeriline Wooley; son, Henry Myers; sister, Margarita George; and brothers, Abe George, Sam George, Milton George, Joe George and Tranquilino George.

Gloria Marie Hoops, 85, went to be with our Lord on April 17, 2016 in Sugar Land.  Gloria was born on October 8, 1930 in Patchogue, Long Island, New York to parents, Frank E. Gallo and Angelina Cook. During her younger years, she spent much of her time in competitive roller skating. Before retirement, she enjoyed many years of being a florist in the flower shops of Alvin. Often she could be found working in her garden of many flowers and plants. Gloria did sewing and alterations for many people in our community. She also enjoyed crocheting, but her favorite times were spent decorating and cooking for her family, especially during the holidays. She was very artistic in her decorating and there was always enough dressing to feed an army.  Gloria loved her family dearly. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant everything to her, as they did her in return.

Delpha Jean Smith Hockin, 81, went to be with her LORD in the evening of April 17, 2016 in Webster, Texas. Jean, as she was known, was born March 25, 1935 to James Earnest “Dock” Smith and Beulah Lenore Ragland Smith in Sumrall, Mississippi. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Lee Hockin, on October 9, 1953 in Alvin and was happily married for 62 years. Over the years, Ken would say that if he couldn’t find her in the house then he would find her in the yard tending to her many flowers. Jean was known to all as Nana. One of her favorite things to do was to cook for her family, especially during the holiday season or special occasions. Anyone that was to enter her kitchen would be told to wash their hands as cleanliness was a must in Nana’s house. Her family meant everything to her and she loved them all dearly, as they loved her.

She was born February 5, 1934, the daughter of Antonio Santellan and Anastacia Medrano Santellan of Grant, MI, married her lifelong husband, Jeremias, in 1956, and moved to Texas in 1966, where she lived the rest of her life.

Ruben Nicholas Maldonado, age 27, of Alvin, Texas passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016 at his residence. Ruben was born on July 2, 1988 in Galveston, Texas and was a lifetime resident of Alvin.

Heidi Ida Blackburn, age 75, of Alvin, Texas passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center, Webster, Texas. Heidi was born on December 25, 1940 in Cella, Germany and was a resident of Alvin for more than 50 years. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. Heidi was preceded in death by her husband, James Blackburn; her parents; and grandson, Walter Hutchens.

Billie Kate Opliger, 83, was set free after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s on April 8, 2016. Billie was born on October 29, 1932 to parents, W.S. Newton and Jessie Inez Herring in Pie Town, New Mexico. On September 26, 1951, Billie began her fairy tale marriage to the love of her life, Harry F. Opliger, and was happily married for 65 years. Billie’s drive in the field of real estate could only be matched by her compassionate heart. From stray grandchildren to stray animals, no one was without a meal, or a home.

Bill Wilson, age 74, of Alvin, Texas passed away Friday, April 1, 2016 at his home. Bill was born July 11, 1941 in Houston, Texas and had resided in Alvin for the last 35 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1957-1959. Bill worked as a self-employed Welder for 35 years and spent his last few years of his career as a pipeline inspector. He was a hard worker and took great pride in his family. Bill had many friends and will be dearly missed by all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Betty Wilson; and son, Todd Green.

Early Monday morning April 4 the Lord took his faithful servant Wilma Moser to be by his side after a yearlong battle with cancer. Wilma moved with her family to Houston from Nacogdoches, Texas when she was 6 years old and has resided in both Southeast Houston and Friendswood except for a 12-year period in which she lived in Palestine, Texas while her husband was employed by Houston Lighting and Power Company. She was a proud Midterm graduate of Milby High School class of 1954 where she had kept in contact with many of her classmates in the recent years.
