Gene led a multi- faceted life that began on December 28, 1934, in Pearland, Texas. Alvin has been his home for his lifetime, although his life journey took him away for some periods of time.
Gene was a graduate of Alvin High School and studied two years at the University of Texas.

He married Judy Vaughan on May 12, 1967, in Houston.
He was a Licensed Independent Insurance Agent / Certified Insurance Counselor and owned Coastal Insurance Agency in Alvin. He was in the business for 30 years.
Service was important to him. He was a member of the Alvin Masonic Lodge #762, where he served as the Worshipful Master during the historic flood of 1979. As a Shriner, he helped several children get care at The Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
Gene and Judy loved to travel, which led them on trips all over the United States and Canada throughout their marriage. They were one of five founding members of the Shiftless Sams RV Club, which was in existence for 45 years.
If he was not in his camper on a great adventure, he could often be found on his motorcycle or on the water in his sailboat, either for leisure or to sail competitively to places like Vera Cruz and Isla Mujeres.
He was a great athlete, excelling in baseball, football and competitive diving. His great love was ballroom dancing and became a competitive ballroom dancer at the age of seventeen. He and his partner Betty Jo won the National Ballroom Competition, and then competed for the World Championship in Havana, Cuba. Gene he earned his second-degree black belt in Tae Kwan Do in his 40’s.
Many things brought him happiness, but his family was where his heart truly was.
