Mary Elena Canales, age 76 of Alvin, Texas passed away Monday, July 13, 2020 at Clear Lake Regional Hospital Heart Tower in Webster, Texas.  Mary was born August 17, 1944 in Wharton, Texas and was a lifetime resident of Alvin.  She was a devout member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Alvin and was known for sending out her special prayers to her family and friends when needed. Mary was a loving mother, mother in law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be dearly missed. She lived her life for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Making sure that each one knew that they were loved and special. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse G. Canales Jr.; parents, Damascio and Sara Munoz; son in law, John Rodriguez Sr.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Jeanette Rodriguez, Ana Lopez, Deanna Hinojosa and husband Rodrigo, Tammy Sommerville and husband Bobby; son, Joseph Canales; sister, Lupe Gutierrez; 11 grandchildren, John Jr., Jeremy and Jesse Rodriguez, Marina and Brittany Canales, Jessica Joyner, Jon and J.D. Joya, Joshua Hinojosa, Veronica Jiminez, and Christian Lee; 12 great grandchildren, John III, Noah, Sylas, Bella, Penelope, Emma, Mila, Azlan, Miles, Mason, Olivia and Sophia; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M to 11:30 A.M. Friday, July 17, 2020 at Scott Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 11:30 A.M. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 17, 2020 at St. John’s The Baptist Catholic Church in Alvin, Texas.
