Mary Jacqueline Hoehne (Jacquie), 82, passed away peacefully August 4, 2019, after a long battle with cardiac issues and related illnesses.
She was glamorous till the very end and maintained her ever-popular sense of humor and wisdom.
A great woman, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was born April 21, 1937, in Englewood, New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her father, John Hoehne; mother, Sally (Sanford) Hoehne; her sister, Sally Scuzs; and her eldest daughter, Sally (Marino) Slattery.
Jacquie was a Jersey girl at heart and remained there until relocating to Houston in 1979. She was always the life of the party, lived in and for the moment, and loved being with people. She truly never met a stranger. Her passions were cooking, gambling, playing games (especially cards), traveling, reading, telling stories and home-shopping. Her happy place would always be the beach. Not a day passed that she was not up, beautifully dressed and ready to roll, despite how she may have been feeling. Every day she fed every stray that came her way, be it cat, dog, possum or person. She loved playing cupid, and three marriages resulted from her efforts. Here’s to you, Antonio & Theresa Espinoza, Shawn & BJ Williams, and Laura & Steve Keller! She stated the two constants in her life were Jesus (whom she spoke to every day) and her children.
She leaves behind her son, Dominick (Nick) Marino and wife Michele; daughter, Lisa Marino Martens; daughter, Marlene Marino and (Brenda) and daughter, Mary Dec LeFleur; grandchildren: Bruce and (Nicole) Lavoie, Renee and (Matthew) Albee, Bryan Slattery Jr., Dustin and (Emily) Martens, Courtney and (John) Underwood, Todd Miller Jr., Allie Fruge, Kimber and (Joey) Romero and Dylan LeFleur; and great-grandchildren: Hayden, Faith, Wesley, Hadley and Kinley. She also leaves her dearest lifelong friend of almost 70 years, Marlene DeFreitas.
The family wishes to thank the guardian angels at the Harbor Hospice Inpatient Facility for being so attentive, gentle and respectful during her final days. We are also eternally grateful for the unending support from family and friends who were so kind to provide an outpouring of love with meals, prayers and compassion. You are all a godsend to us.
Jacquie’s last sentiment:
“The dance has been wonderful, the music never ending.
A carousel of lives and events. Voices in crescendo then becoming forever silent.
How I miss them, but will listen for new ones to continue the opera of my life.”
