GERDES

Carolyn Ann Gerdes, age 77 of Alvin, Texas passed into the arms of her Lord on January 3, 2021 at Houston Methodist Hospital Clear Lake. Carolyn was a beloved wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother and a friend of many. Carolyn was born on August 21, 1943 in Marshall, Texas to Carl Vivian and Alberta Maud Martin. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 57 years, Jerry J. Gerdes, Jr.; her parents, Carl Martin and Alberta Martin.

Carolyn is survived by her children, Darrell Gerdes and Rita Walker, Kelli Pelton and her husband Silas Ray Pelton; brother Bill Beck and wife Evelyn; her grandchildren, Derek Gerdes and Quinn Townsend, Maryssa Clark and her husband, Timmy Clark, Savannah Smith and Jansen Jaeger; her great-grandchildren, Blayton Gerdes. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends who were blessed by her friendship.

Carolyn worked in the medical field for many years and started her own medical transcription business until she retired in 2012. She and her husband loved to travel and spent many summers traveling with their children and visiting several states over the years. She and her Aunt Nell took a trip to see the fall foliage one year and she would reminisce of the beauty of the landscape and time she spent with her many years later. Carolyn loved to decorate her home and loved having beautiful flowers adorn the outside of her home. Her life was well lived and she was well loved by her family and friends.

At Carolyn’s request, there will not be a service. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Jerry, at Oak Park Cemetary in the near future. Our family sends a special thank you to all family members and friends for all the love and support shown during this time to our beautiful mother. She will be missed dearly.
