Vanesia Mila Weeden, 60, of Woodville, passed away, Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Harbor Hospice in Jasper, Texas.  

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 3 p.m. until service time at 4 p.m., on Saturday, November 12, 2022.  All will be held at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville.  Officiating will be Brother Clark Mahoney.   Burial will be at Newberry Cemetery in Alma, Arkansas.

Vanesia was born January 22, 1962 to Jerry Cooper Russell and Nancy Katherine Robbins Russell in Columbia, Mississippi.  A 1980 graduate of Alvin High School. She worked for several years as a clerk with K-Mart.  She enjoyed bowling and attending the Hillister Baptist Church.  Vanesia had lived in Woodville for the past 17 years.                    

She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Sam Weeden; son, Anthony Weeden; father, Jerry Cooper Russell; and sister, Tammy Anderson.

She is survived by her mother, Katherine Gallaway of Woodville; sister, Teresa Russell Walters and husband Kenneth of Groesbeck; brothers, Mark Russell and wife Donna of Alvin, and Don Russell and wife Kelly of Sweeney; sister-in-law, Kathy Rice and husband David of Muldrow, OK; and numerous other family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 161 N. Clark St., Suite 3550, Chicago, IL   60601.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville, Texas.
