Mr. Gregorio Ybarra Sr. passed from this life, Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Gregorio was born November 23, 1942, in Alta Loma to Arnulfo and Juanita Ybarra. He was a devout Catholic and was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus 10393 and his church, Our Lady of Lourdes, which he had been a member of since he was a child. Growing up with nine brothers and sisters, Gregorio learned what it meant to be selfless and to help those around him. He developed a passion for volunteering and loved helping his community and fellow man. He volunteered for United Way, Galveston County EMS and Citizen Patrol for Alvin PD, just to name a few. He was proud of the certificates and awards he accumulated throughout the years from his volunteerism. Gregorio was a true giver and he especially enjoyed giving his time as a videographer/photographer for special events. He was a great cook, loved music of all kinds and had an impressive record collection. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros any chance he could. Gregorio was a special man who touched the lives of so many and he will be truly missed.

My thoughts are with Gregorio’s family. He really sounds like he was a good giving person. It is so painful thing to lose someone, yet no one else can really know all that you feel except our Heavenly Father. He knows and feels your pain. He calls death an enemy and promises to remove it forever, Isaiah 25:8 “And he will swallow up death forever…” He also promised to wake up all our loved ones, in the memorial tombs, from death (Isaiah 26:19). What joy it will be to see our loved ones again and to enjoy life as our Creator purposed (Psalms 145:16). I  hope these words give all of you comfort.
