Maire

Russell Wayne Maire, age 89, of Alvin, Texas passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at his residence. Russell was born August 4, 1931 in Mullen, Nebraska. His family moved to California when he was four and that is where he grew up. Russell was a resident of Alvin for the last 25 years. Russell is preceded in death by his wife, Joann Maire; parents, Henry Otto and Stella Leigh Maire; brothers, Frank Maire, Gerald Maire and sister Emma Maire Toste.

Russell was a long haul truck driver for many years and had a lot of good memories to share from that time of his life. He started working at Alvin Equipment in 2007 as a truck driver and that is where he retired from. Russell will be greatly missed by his adopted family at Alvin Equipment. It will not be the same without Russell sitting on the swing out back and “supervising”. Russell was a member of Chocolate Bayou Cowboy Church in Alvin. He always had his spot at the end of the row on Sunday mornings! He appreciated the ladies from the church bringing him food and checking on him, it made him feel special. There was another group of ladies that he loved and that is the ladies of Diana’s Grill in Alvin. They treated him like family. They nicknamed him Popeye and bought him his favorite T-shirt with Popeye on it. His best little sidekick was Brutus. Brutus went everywhere he could with Russell and waited patiently in the truck. We will take good care of him for you, Russell.

Russell is survived by his niece, Norene Krader Williams of St. Maries, Idaho, and nephew Marvin and Doris Krader of Fort Mohave, Arizona along with numerous other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 12, 2020 at Confederate Cemetery in Alvin, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chocolate Bayou Cowboy Church in memory of Russell. 6808 CR 172 Alvin, Tx 77511. www.cb2ctexas.org

Lastly, we would like to thank Encompass Healthcare for the great care that Russell received.
