Allie Armstrong and Keke Olison combined on a no-hitter in the circle and Isabelle Farmer belted an inside-the-park home run, as the league-leading Alvin Lady Yellowjackets rolled to a 15-0 run-ruled victory over Alief Taylor in 23-6A Softball action March 30 in Alvin.
Alvin moved its record to 20-3 overall and 7-0 in district with the win over Taylor and a 15-0 shutout at Alief Elsik Thursday night. The Lady Jackets jumped to a 2-0 lead against Taylor in the first inning and then broke the game open with a 13-run second frame.
Farmer drove in three runs with the inside-the-park job, while Roni Harrison and Kiley Huffman collected a pair of RBI’s and Reagan Jones had two hits and two RBI’s, as well.
Jones (four RBI’s) and Farmer (three RBI’s) both went deep with home runs against the Lady Rams, while Huffman drove in a pair of runs.
The Lady Jackets were ranked fifth in the state in the Texas Girls Coaches’ Association’s weekly 6A poll. The No. 1 spot went to San Antonio Warren, followed by Weatherford, Clear Springs, Converse Judson, Alvin, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, Waco Midway, Dallas Molina, Cy Woods and El Paso Montwood in the top 10.
Rounding out the remaining 15 spots were Buda Hays, San Antonio O’Connor, Los Fresnos, Round Rock Cedar Ridge, Harlington South, San Antonio Madison, Berkner, Flower Mound, Richland, El Paso Americas, Round Rock, Austin Bowie, Katy, Rockwall Heath, Garland Sachse, Deer Park and Laredo.
The Lady Jackets next host Pearland Tuesday at 6:45 p.m.
In other area softball action, the Manvel Lady Mavericks fell at first place Santa Fe by a 10-0 count on March 30 and against Baytown Sterling by a 2-1 count Thursday.. The Lady Mavs remain in solid position for a playoff berth in 22-5A, despite their record falling to 6-4 in league play. Rylie Bouvier and Ashley Nickerson drove in two runs each to lead Santa Fe. Ivaney Ramirez drove in the lone Manvel tally at Sterling.
The Lady Mavs next host Texas City Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
The Shadow Creek Lady Sharks (7-6 overall, 5-2 in 23-6A) rolled past Alief Taylor 17-1 on Thursday behind Marisa Martinez’s three RBI’s and two RBI’s each by Sydney Boudreaux and Celeste Luna.
The Lady Sharks next host Dawson Tuesday at 6:45 p.m.
