Victoria Valdez launched a mammoth three-run homer over the left field fence to highlight an eight-run first inning and lead the league-leading Alvin Lady Yellowjackets to an 13-5 run-ruled triumph over Clear Brook in 24-6A Softball action here Friday night.
Chloe Foster added a two-run double in the frame, as Alvin (15-4 overall, 5-0 in district) built an early 8-0 lead. Brook cut the lead in half with a four spot in the third, but the Lady Jackets countered with a run apiece in the third and fourth innings, two in the fifth and another tally in the sixth to close it out.
Jodie Aguirre picked up the win in the pitching circle for Alvin, striking out eight and allowing four hits and three walks.
Valdez and Clarissa Barron both collected three hits in the contest, while Mindy Matthews joined Shae Montemayor, Grace Coffelt, Mary Pourcio, Aguirre and Foster with two hits each.
The Lady Jackets next play at Dickinson on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
