Garret Poston drove in six runs and Alvin Community College put the game away with a three-run seventh inning for an 11-7 home victory over Wharton County Saturday afternoon in Region XIV Baseball action at Phillips Field.
The victory gave the Dolphins (18-10) a sweep of the three-game series and also extended their winning streak to 10 games. Alvin also edged Chicago South Suburban 11-10 in non-conference play here on Friday. Salvador Martinez led the way with three RBIs while Jansen Fontenot and Sam Serchey chipped in two apiece.
Poston also delivered a six-RBI game in the Thursday series opener at Wharton with both a grand slam and two-run long balls in ACC's 13-4 run-ruled triumph.
Former Alvin Yellowjacket Kade Morris gave the Dolphins a 1-0 lead with a solo homer in the fourth, while Dee Torres slugged a three-run bomb to right field in the fifth.
Alvin trailed the Pioneers by a 4-1 count in Saturday's first game until rallying for five runs in the fifth.
Dylan Daughtery cut the margin to 4-3 with a two-run double and Micheal Zamora blasted a three-run homer over the right-field fence to give the Dolphins the upper hand at 6-4.
Wharton retied the issue at 6-6 with a run apiece in the sixth and seventh frames, respectively, before ACC countered in the bottom of the seventh.
Daughtery reached with a one-out double and after moving to third base on a wild pitch, Javeon Cody provided the walk-off RBI single for a 7-6 Dolphins' victory.
