Alvin Community Baseball stayed on a roll, taking three of four games from San Jacinto North College in Region XIV Baseball action last weekend and then picking up a dramatic walk-off here against Angelina College on March 27.
The Ravens won the series opener by a 5-3 count in Alvin on March 21, while the Dolphins (20-14 overall, 11-7 in conference) evened things with a 5-4 triumph, March 23 in Houston.
Oscar Cuello went 6 1/3 innings to pick up the win on the mound and improve to 4-0 in the second contest. Daylon Carleton drove in a pair of runs with a homer and triple, while Diego Guevara and Sergio Guerra both had doubles.
Alvin then swept the teams’ double header on March 25 at Phillips Field in Alvin by 4-1 and 8-2 scores to take the series.
Guevara went 3-for-4 at the plate in the first game, while third baseman Robert Oropeza and Daniel Burroway both drilled triples. Drew Leach picked up the win on the mound and Mark Lopez earned a save in relief.
The Dolphins completed the double header sweep and series victory with a five-run eighth inning, sealing an 8-2 triumph.
Guevara joined Burroway and Guerra with two RBI’s apiece.
In Monday’s win over Angelina, the Dolphins rallied from an 8-4 deficit with five runs in the ninth.
J.J. Olivarez, who homered twice, went deep with two runners aboard to tie it at 7-7, while the winning run crossed the plate for ACC a little later on a Roadrunners’ error.
Carleton also drove in two runs in the contest with a first inning homer. Gage Peterson delivered a triple and Ethan Munoz and Grant Pfaff each smacked doubles.
Alvin next hosts Blinn College, Saturday at Phillips Field with the first game of the double header starting at noon.
Lady Dolphins sweep softball twinbill at Lamar - The ACC Softball Girls swept a double header against Lamar State College, Wednesday in Port Arthur by 6-5 and 11-4 scores.
In the second game, Alvin overcame an early 2-0 deficit with three runs in both the third and fourth frames and later put the game away with a four-run sixth.
J’lailah Dotson homered and drove in four runs in the contest, while Lopez chipped in two RBI’s and Ortiz joined Tatlonghari and Menina Cavazos with one apiece.
The Lady Dolphins next host Blinn College, Saturday at Ruth Ryan Field with the first game of the double header starting at 1 p.m.
