Manvel and Shadow Creek also emerged victorious in their Class 5A one-game bi-district softball playoffs last weekend.
The Lady Mavericks blanked Houston Milby 14-0 Friday night in Manvel behind Addison Greak’s three-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts.
Peyton Wilsey led the way offensively for Manvel (21-11) with three hits and three RBI’s, while Riley Bennett and Brittany Hood drove in two runs apiece.
Brianna Garcia and Hood also both collected a pair of hits and scored two runs apiece and Jaide Naepoleon provided two hits and two runs scored, as well.
Manvel will face Friendswood in the area round at a site and time to be determined later this week. The Lady Mustangs (coached by former Lady Mavs’ coach Christa Williams-Yates) won District 22-5A and topped Dayton 9-5 in a one-game bi-district playoff on Thursday.
Making their first ever playoff appearance, the Lady Sharks also had no problem with their bi-district foe, spanking Houston Austin by a 20-2 count Thursday night at the Barnett Complex in Houston.
Shadow Creek (20-9) advances to face Santa Fe in the second round at a site and time to be determined later this week. The Indians blanked Port Neches- Groves 2-0 in their bi-district playoff game on Friday behind Madysen Blake’s two-hit shutout.
