The Sharks improved to 3-0 with the win and have an open date this week, before opening 23-6A play at Pearland, Sept. 23.

In other area fooftball action, the Alvin Yellowjackets suffered a 48-27 defeat to Beaumont United, Friday night at Beaumont ISD Stadium.

The loss was the first this season for Alvin (2-1), who has an open date in their schedule this week, before opening 23-6A play at Alief Taylor, Sept. 22.

Riley Pavlas rambled 65 yards for the Yellowjackets’ first touchdown, while Dayshawn Peterson delivered the second and fourth TD’s for Alvin and quarterback Brayden Griffin also reached the end zone.

Alvin compiled 404 total yards with 397 of that total coming on the ground.

United quarterback Jonathan Martin rushed for 173 yards on 23 carries and five TD’s to lead the Timberwolves.

“It was a back and forth contest for three quarters,” Alvin head coach James Gage said. “United was leading 28-21 when we were driving for the tying touchdown and put the ball on the ground.

They then went up by two scores. Their QB (Martin) is the real deal. He’s similar to the QB at Taylor. This was a good test for us with what we have coming up in district.”
