Area Soccer teams kick off postseason play Thursday and Friday

Shadow Creek’s Alicia Sanchez (18), left, battles for ball control during last weekend's District 24-5A Soccer match against Fort Bend Willowridge at Shadow Creek High School in Pearland.  The Lady Sharks, who cruised to a 9-0 victory, are headed to the postseason for the first time ever and will face Houston Waltrip in the 5A girls' bi-district playoff round Friday at AISD's Freedom Field in Iowa Colony at 7:30 p.m. Three other area teams will also be competing in playoff action on Thursday. The Manvel Lady Mavericks face Houston Austin at 5:30 p.m. in the first game of a 5A bi-district double header at Freedom Field, while the Manvel Mavericks then meet Houston Waltrip at 7:30 p.m. in the 5A boys' first round at FF and the Alvin Lady Yellowjackets collide with Brazoswood in the 6A girls' bi-district round in Santa Fe at 7:30 p.m.
